The Plane Crazy Scavenger Hunt at the Cradle of Aviation Museum

Brace yourself for high-flying fun

Your mission: to zero in on the most surprising and funniest facts in the Cradle of Aviation Museum’s amazing aerial collection. You’ll encounter plenty of real planes, of course, from the earliest ones at the dawn of flight to an actual lunar landing module. But you’ll also discover a World War I garage, the 1920s Hempstead Plains, astronaut food, quirky pioneers of flight, cranky neighbors, and much more, as you collaborate with your team to answer tricky, humorous questions.

You might tackle such questions as…

  • Which “president” flew the bouncing bovine below a dragon kite? Answer: Lincoln Beachey flew an airship called the Rubber Cow, as seen in a photo.
  • What did a naval officer change after hearing complaints about early flying hours from a resident of Lloyd’s Neck? Answer: He moved the training flight time from 5 a.m. to 4 a.m.
  • The museum stands at the airfield where Lindbergh took off for his historic solo flight across the Atlantic. How many bounces did it take him fly? Answer: His plane bounced four times before getting airborne, as seen in a video.

But you don’t need to know anything about planes or the museum to play or to win: all you need is good teamwork, sharp eyes, and comfy shoes.

We also offer a Murder Mystery Edition. Either version is great for any event where you want to get people interacting, bonding, and laughing.

The Kids Edition challenges children and adults to take flight together, in a quest that makes for a great school field trip or an unusual birthday party. Suitable for ages 7 and up.

The Long Island Museum Mania Scavenger Hunt

Time-travel to Long Island’s past…

…on a scavenger hunt at one of New York’s most underappreciated museums, the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook. It’s several delightful museums in one: an art museum boasting remarkable 19th-century paintings, a carriage museum with some 100 carriages of all kinds, plus a formal garden and a collection of historic buildings in a nine-acre setting. There’s an 1877 schoolhouse! An 1875 blacksmith shop! A 1794 barn! We could go on.

But this isn’t any old tour. To explore the museum’s diverse treasures—and to triumph—you’ll be challenged to answer tricky, entertaining questions with your team. No knowledge of art or Long Island history is necessary: you just need to keep your eyes open and work together.

The museum commissioned us to create this hunt, which is ideal for corporate or social-club outings, student and alumni reunions, family get-togethers—you name it. We also offer a version for kids and adults to do together, which is a big hit for school field trips and birthday parties; it’s recommended for ages 7 and up.

You owe it to yourself to check it out.

The Murder at the Aviation Museum Scavenger Hunt

Catch a killer on the loose on Long Island!

Bad news: your team-building scavenger hunt at Long Island’s Cradle of Aviation Museum will be slightly delayed because your hunt host was found in one of the galleries… dead. And he was definitely the victim of foul play.

It turns out that the first thing the police need you to do is to complete the museum scavenger hunt that the host, David, created for your group. You’ll follow a trail of clues to answer tricky, amusing questions about unusual objects on exhibit. It seems that the answers will help you decode and an “emergency message” that David apparently wrote in case he turned up dead.

Solve puzzles, save the world

Can your team of sleuths piece together David’s puzzle to reveal his killer—and possibly head off an international incident with catastrophic consequences? The fate of the free world may depend on your teamwork.

This scavenger hunt is a great way to build teamwork and boost morale. No knowledge of the museum or aviation is necessary: you just need sharp eyes and comfy shoes.

If you’ve never been to the Cradle of Aviation Museum, you’ll be amazed at just how entertaining the exhibits are. It’s conveniently located near the Nassau Coliseum. And there are lots of dining options nearby if your team wants to celebrate after your victory.
