See the new Tennessee State Museum museum in a new way!

You’ll have the time of your life as you try to save your life on this team game that’s part scavenger hunt, part escape-room game, inside the reincarnated Tennessee State Museum on the Bicentennial Mall.

Here’s the plot: you’ve been poisoned! An evil genius hides in your midst and has secretly dosed you with a toxin that will finish you off in one hour—unless you can solve his or her crafty puzzles involving objects in the museum. Crack the code, open a cryptex, get the antidote, and save your life…or, um, not. Think your team has what it takes to survive and expose the villain?

To succeed, you’ll need to seek out the most amazing and amusing objects in the museum’s wide-ranging collection. You’ll romp through state history in the Tennessee Time Tunnel, marvel at rooms that re-create life in the 19th century, experience the woes of the common soldier in the Civil War, mingle with remarkable people in the Interactive Theater, and much more. It’s as if the coolest stuff in the state’s attic has been unpacked and put on colorful display—waiting for you to uncover the secrets and, if you’re clever, stop that evil villain.

The Tennessee State Museum museum is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays, which makes it a perfect venue for some after-work, team-building fun with your colleagues.

You’ll need to show a lot of pluck…

…on this whirlwind tour of the wildest, weirdest, and most wonderful objects on display at the Country Music Hall of Fame. But hold it right there: you don’t need to know a lick of country music, or even like it, to be utterly fascinated by and victorious on this adventure. On teams, you’ll follow a trail of clues that lead you to amazing objects, and you’ll answer tricky, humorous questions about what you discover.

Your search might include…

  • Elvis Presley’s Cadillac, coated with crushed diamonds and fish scales
  • A bag of flour that could turn into Roy Acuff
  • Blindingly snazzy costumes designed by Nudie the Rodeo Tailor
  • Webb Pierce’s 1962 Pontiac, festooned with guns, horseshoes, and silver dollars
  • Instruments twanged by Lefty Frizzell’s wicked southpaw punch
  • Private telegrams from Johnny Cash and June Carter

You might tackle such questions as…

  • Find a display case that could be brought to you by Ambien. How did Lee apologize to Parisians? Answer: In the Sweet Dreams exhibit, Brenda Lee’s song “I’m Sorry” is translated to “Pardonne-Moi.”
  • Find a guy who’s doin’ it with his eyes closed. Which one of his companions was poked until it broke? Answer: Bill Monroe’s mandolin, his “constant companion,” was destroyed with a fireplace poker when an intruder broke into his home.

Don’t worry if you didn’t know the answers. You’ll find them when standing in the right spot and with the help of your teammates. You don’t need to know anything about the music or the memorabilia to win: you just need sharp eyes and comfy shoes.

This twangified, fun-filled game will have your teammates yodeling your praises for days afterward.

A weather-proof adventure in Nashville!

What’s the best way to hurtle through the decades at Nashville’s Tennessee State Museum? On a team-building scavenger hunt, of course! You’ll time travel through more than 200 years in 90 minutes, as your group goes in search of answers to tricky, humorous questions that bring out the best in the museum. Heck, the museum’s galleries are literally arranged around what the history museum calls a “Time Tunnel.” So strap on your goggles and set the dial to 1600…

We’ve scanned the galleries and scoured the display cases to find the most fascinating objects, the most jaw-dropping facts, and the most rib-tickling tales the history museum has to offer. All you need for the game is sharp eyes, comfy shoes, and good teamwork. You don’t even need to know the difference between Davey Crockett and Dolly Parton—but by the end of the game, you’ll be delighted by how interesting the history of Nashville and Tennessee can be.

More than that, our questions bring out the talents and skills of everyone on your team. There are also Team Photo Challenges to spur your creativity and create memorable images to share at the finish line. You’ll be amazed at how even the curmudgeons transform into enthusiasts by the finish line.

Highlights on the Nashville scavenger hunt include…

  • A weerdly werded messij carvd by Daniel Boone
  • A First Lady’s unprecedented musical request to the Marines
  • A potent Prohibition whiskey “for medicinal use only”
  • A luck charm owned by a former Rabbit Foot Minstrel and “The World’s Oldest Teenager”
  • A Civil War soldier’s ruse to lick others at lice races

Admission to the Tennessee State Museum is free, and of course it’s impervious to heat, humidity, rain, or snow. You can keep cool while the competition heats up.
