English: The Lincoln Memorial is a United States Presidential memorial built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
The building is in the form of a Greek Doric temple and contains a large seated sculpture of Abraham Lincoln and inscriptions of two well-known speeches by Lincoln.
Nederlands: Het Lincolnmonument is een presidentieel memoriaal om de zestiende president van de VS, Abraham Lincoln, te eren. Het is gelegen aan het uiteinde van de National Mall in Washington DC.
Het gebouw heeft de vorm van een Griekse Dorische tempel, binnenin staat het monumentale beeld van een zittende Abraham Lincoln en inscripties met twee van zijn bekendste speeches (inauguratie en Gettysburg address) |
